Vastu Shastra, literally, means the science that lays down the foundation principles of creating an environment, a living or working space, which brings harmony amongst the varied energy fields that exist within that particular space.
Vastu shastra helps in manifesting the space with the life and energy field of a person. This helps the environment of the person to stay in consonance with the energies of the cosmic universe, while resulting in spiritual, physical and psychological order of self. This can be achieved by coordinating the five elements of nature with the natural forces- the solar power, the magnetic power, and the gravitational power.
Vastu Shatra works on the fundamental belief of nature- It is omnipotent and omnipresent, and has an unprecedent and immortal power. Aligning all the other energies to this power is the sole aim of vastu shastra.
The underlying principles that define the outline of vastu shastra include: the architecture of the space, the doctorine of orientation, the proportionate measurements, the aesthetics of the surroundings, and planning the environment.
A symmetrical space to live or work should have enough room to let in fresh energy and ventilate out the harmful frequencies. Further, the aesthetics of the room define the positive energy residing in the area, that builds up a harmonious environment to live and work.
The essence of vastu shastra lies in making the living (or working space) in total conformity with the utilization of the five elements in their specified directions. Thus, there needs to be specific directions to put up doors, windows and other setting up other interiors and exteriors.
